PROCEDURES
The following information should serve as an explanation of my policies and procedures
PAYMENTS: My policy is as follows: Payments are due within 2 weeks from the billing date. I will be sending bills out on the 1st of every month. PLEASE don’t carry a balance more than a month old. This is my job and I have bills to pay. I love to teach. I hate asking for money. Once a bill has become 45 days old, lessons will cease unless a payment plan has been made. I take cash, Venmo, Zelle or Paypal for payments.

Virtual Test Sessions:
Fees will be the same as the above in person test session fees. An additional $10.00 will be added for every reskate that a skater has to do.
Practice Ice will be billed out the same as lesson time.
Competition Fees:
▪️Freeskate Events (Long & Short) $20.00/event
▪️Compulsory, Spins, Jumps $15.00/event
▪️Dance and Skating Skills Events $30.00/event
Practice Ice will be billed out the same as lesson time
In addition to the rates listed above, skaters will be responsible for my expenses for any competition or test session that is not local. I will add the total of my hotel, mileage (.70/mile), and food ($35.00/day max) and divide it by the number of skaters attending the competition. In some special cases an expense bill will be sent out prior to the event and will be due 2 days prior to the event.
Extras: ▪️Off-Ice Lesson $16.00/15 minutes
▪️Music Cut $20.00 & up
My music editing fee varies based on the length of the program, if I have to find the music, and the difficulty of the cuts. A good rule of thumb is that the higher the level, the more expensive the music will be.
These policies are my specific on-ice policies that I have come up with over the years. These go in conjunction with MCFSC'S and US Figure Skatings's code of conduct and policies. Some of these policies may seem odd or even just common sense, but all of them have a valid reason or were added because of a previous issue I encountered.
Be on time – Nothing bothers me more than lateness, especially if it is habitual. If skating is scheduled to start at 5:30am that means that you are to be setting foot on the ice at that time. It is very distracting to the coaches and skaters when skaters are getting on the ice 10, 15, 20 minutes late.
Clothing – Skaters will be required to follow my on-ice dress code. You are skaters, not pajama models!
Hair – Long hair MUST be pulled back into a ponytail, braid or bun. Bangs should be clipped back from your face. Have your skater put a pack of ponies in their backpack, so that they always have one.
Talking – Please keep talking to a bare minimum. This is for 3 main reasons:
Skating is an extremely expensive sport. Your parents don’t pay that kind of money for you to come to the rink and talk.
Talking is very distracting to not only the coaches, but other skaters as well.
If you are talking, you are NOT practicing!!
Lessons – Everybody will have scheduled lessons with me. Lesson time is for the skater in the lesson only! Please do not interrupt me when I’m in a lesson with another skater. The skater in the lesson that you interrupt is paying for the time. So, please be respectful of that skater. The only exception to this rule is if you have to leave the ice for any reason. I ask that you please ask me before leaving the ice. NEW FOR THE 2025-2026 SEASON: I will post my lesson schedule on here. Because I have more skaters than I have ever had before, all skaters will have assigned lessons times. Because I don't think it is fair for the same skater to always have first or last lesson, these times will be constantly changing. So check the schedule weekly. NOTE: Skaters are expected to be on the ice for their entire practice session! If skaters start showing up for just lesson time, I will go back to not having a set schedule.
Nutrition – Please remember that you are an athlete. There will be no candy or pop allowed during skating. Feel free to bring a water bottle with you to the ice. When you are away from the rink choose nutrition meals. What you put in your mouth affects the way you perform.
Bathroom Breaks – This is a biggy! Please ask permission to leave the ice at ANY time. The major reason for this is so I know where you are. I panic, especially with the younger kids when I can’t find them.
Changing Coaches/Extra Coaching – If for some reason you decide to change coaches please let me know before doing so. I completely understand if you feel you need to change coaches. Sometimes two individuals don't vibe well and I totally understand that. I want what is best for the skater and will always support them. With that being said, it is very confusing when I come to the rink and see my skater taking from a different coach, so please just take the time to contact me prior to the switch. If you think your child needs extra lessons from a different coach, again, please contact me. NOTE: If I am the skater’s primary coach, the other coach will have to work around my schedule. I will usually never have a problem with this unless it’s done behind my back.
Testing – I will only put a skater up for a test if I feel he/she is ready to pass that test AND is ready to compete at that level. Skaters do not need to test at every test session. If you go behind my back and register for a test session, you will immediately be dropped from my student list.
